Reaching Out and Giving Back
Clark County Parks and Recreation Department thanks Peters & Associates for a generous donation to the Robert E. "Bob" Price Recreation Center, providing low-income families with the opportunity to take their children out to a baseball game. The Department thanks Peters & Associates for their constant support and continuous community involvement.
The Salvation Army recognized Peters & Associates for donating tickets for the "Las Vegas 51's" Minor League Baseball team, which the Salvation Army pledged to distribute to the men and women in their Adult Rehabilitation Program.
The Las Vegas Junior Giants baseball little league thanked Peters & Associates for our support of the Junior Giants League of Las Vegas.
The CASA Foundation exists to ensure that the rights of foster children are represented fairly as the child makes his/her way through the foster system. These children, there are more than 5000 of them here in Las Vegas alone, are usually living with foster parents while their fates are decided by the courts. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for abused and neglected children in the Clark County Family Court system. At Peters & Associates, helping the community is our priority and we are proud to sponsor CASA’s Angel Tree program annually. Angel Tree creates a happy holiday by providing gifts to each child and holding an annually holiday party with games and events for the children in the program. Peters & Associates was recognized by the foundation not only for our substantial donations, but also for our volunteer work at the annual event. In 2010, all employees of our firm were present at the party, running games, helping with organization and passing out gifts and books to the more than 300 children that attended!
Mortgage Scam Uncovered
Early in 2011, a client of ours received a letter from a company called Great Western Business Services stating that it was the new servicer of a loan he had with Bank of America. The letter instructed our client to stop making payments to Bank of America and instead send the payments to Great Western Business Services. When our client contacted Bank of America, he was told that his loan had not in fact been transferred.
After contacting our firm, we immediately investigated and were able to uncover the many discrepancies in the company's practices which helped to point out that a scam was being perpetrated. We made this story known to the public in hopes that public awareness would help prevent anyone from becoming a victim of this scam. In addition we forwarded our findings to Attorney General Cortez Masto’s office, with the hopes that she would catch the criminals. The story was widely reported in the media, including 8 News NOW, Fox5 News and KTVN-TV 13. Within a month, two men were arrested in connection with the scam. We are pleased to have played a role in uncovering this scam and will continue to educate the public about mortgage fraud and scams.
